United by a shared vision, the founders guide the company in transforming university research into scalable, impactful technologies for agriculture, environmental protection, and resource recovery.
Dr. Pradeep W. Samarasekere
Co-Founder | Scientific & Innovation Lead
Dr. Pradeep W. Samarasekere provides the strategic scientific leadership at MineraNova, guiding advanced research, technology development, and innovation direction. He is a Senior Lecturer (Grade II) in Materials and Process Chemistry at the Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya, with expertise spanning sustainable chemistry, waste management technologies, and advanced materials.
He holds a B.Sc. (Special) Honours degree in Computational Chemistry from the University of Colombo and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Houston, USA, where he also completed postdoctoral research. His academic and professional work includes leadership in rare earth metal extraction, electronic waste recycling, and commercialization of sustainable technologies.
Dr. Samarasekere’s contributions have received international recognition, including the Edison Award for Best New Product in Energy Sustainability™, multiple U.S. Department of Energy Clean Energy prizes, and the Committee of Vice-Chancellors & Directors Lifetime Excellence Award for Best Inventor in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Avantha Prasad

Mr. Avantha Prasad is a research driven innovator focused on translating laboratory scale breakthroughs into scalable, real-world solutions. At MineraNova, he plays a key role in applied research execution, prototype development, and technology scale-up, ensuring that scientific discoveries move beyond experimentation into practical deployment.
With a strong emphasis on research to industry translation, Mr. Prasad bridges experimental validation with engineering practicality, supporting the development of fertilizer systems, water treatment technologies, and resource recovery solutions. His work ensures that MineraNova’s innovations are field-ready, adaptable, and aligned with real industrial and societal needs.
